West Virginia University (WVU) is implementing a delayed start to campus operations on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, due to anticipated icy and snowy conditions. Here's a breakdown of what you need to know:
- Class Schedule: All in-person classes scheduled to begin before 10 a.m. are canceled. Online classes will proceed as usual.

Hybrid employees typically scheduled on-site during the closure should work remotely with their supervisors. On-site employees should communicate with their supervisors to determine their work status.
- University Operations: Some University operations may continue with reduced staff and services. It's advisable to call ahead to confirm the availability of locations and services, as conditions may vary.
- WVU Health Sciences: Faculty, staff, and students working in patient care areas or clinical rotations should consult with their respective leaders for specific instructions.
- WVU Visitors Center: The Visitors Center will maintain its scheduled 9 a.m. tours.
- Facilities Management: Roads and Grounds crews will be actively clearing and treating campus roads, parking lots, sidewalks, stairs, and other areas.
- Weather Monitoring: University officials are closely monitoring National Weather Service reports, as well as state, local, and campus conditions.
- Updates and Notifications: Necessary scheduling or weather updates will be disseminated through various channels, including the WVU Safety Notification System, MIX email, students.wvu.edu, ENews, digital signage, and social media accounts.
- Separate Decisions for WVU Institute of Technology and WVU Potomac State College: Decisions regarding these campuses will be made independently based on local conditions. WVU Extension will adhere to its internal inclement weather policy.
- Woodburn Hall Lighting Ceremony: The Woodburn Hall Lighting Ceremony will proceed as scheduled on Tuesday evening.
- WVU Alert System: A WVU Alert is a component of the three-tiered WVU Safety Notification System, designed to keep the community informed during emergencies.
