Unregistered Beauty Clinic Case: Influencer-Owned Companies Charged in Penang (2026)

When beauty turns risky: two well-known companies in Penang now face serious legal trouble over an allegedly unregistered aesthetic clinic. What looked like a sleek wellness business may have crossed into illegal territory—and here’s where it gets interesting.

GEORGE TOWN – In the Sessions Court this morning, two companies — RR Beaute Solution Sdn Bhd and CTA Training Academy Sdn Bhd — both pleaded not guilty to operating what prosecutors say was an unregistered beauty clinic located on Jalan Rangoon.

Representatives from each company stood before Judge Irwan Suainbon as the formal charges were read out. According to the court documents, the alleged offense took place on October 22, 2024, around 10:15 a.m., when the companies purportedly ran a private healthcare facility without registering under Section 27 of the Private Healthcare Facilities and Services Act 1998.

The authorities have charged the companies under Section 4(1) of the same Act, with penalties outlined under Section 34 of the Penal Code for criminal conduct. Should they be found guilty, both entities could face steep fines reaching as high as RM500,000.

Representing the Health Ministry, prosecutors Dr. Fikri Fishoul and Shamsulnizam Kassim led the case, while defense counsel V. Parthipan appeared on behalf of the two accused companies. The judge scheduled December 22 as the date for case management and the exchange of legal documents.

Sources close to the matter revealed that the companies are reportedly managed by a well-known beauty influencer and her husband — a detail adding even more public intrigue to the case. After all, how far should influencers go when health and safety regulations come into play?

Some might argue that the beauty industry’s rapid growth has blurred the lines between wellness and medical practice. Are these companies the latest example of entrepreneurs being punished for innovation, or is this a necessary legal step to protect the public from unlicensed treatments?

What do you think — should social media influencers face stricter oversight when venturing into health-related businesses, or is the legal system being overly harsh here? Drop your thoughts in the comments below.
