Stuart Hogg and Leonna Mayor's Relationship Comes to an End: A Year After Welcoming Their Son, Teddy, the Former Rugby Star Faces Domestic Abuse Charges and Public Backlash
Former Scotland rugby star Stuart Hogg and his partner, Leonna Mayor, have ended their relationship less than a year after welcoming their son, Teddy. The couple had publicly confirmed their relationship in November 2023, shortly after Hogg's former wife, Gillian, gave birth to their fourth child. Hogg, 33, was convicted of domestic abuse against his ex-wife at Selkirk Sheriff Court last November, pleading guilty to charges including shouting, swearing, and acting in an abusive manner. He received a community payback order requiring 12 months of supervision, avoiding a prison sentence.
Mayor, 34, stood by Hogg throughout the court proceedings. Their son, Teddy John Hogg, arrived in February 2025, just weeks after Hogg avoided custody. Mayor has now confirmed via social media that the relationship has ended, stating, 'Now seems as good as time as any. Lots of you guys asking about my situation and life recently – I am no longer with Stuart.'
Hogg, a former Glasgow Warriors fullback, has amassed a century of senior caps for Scotland and participated in three British and Irish Lions tours. He is one of the nation's top try scorers and was recognized with an MBE in the 2024 New Year honors list. However, there have been subsequent demands for him to be stripped of this honor. After retiring from rugby, Hogg made a surprise return to the pitch last summer, signing a two-year deal with Montpellier.
The couple's split comes amidst a backdrop of public scrutiny and controversy. Hogg's domestic abuse charges have sparked debate and calls for accountability. Mayor's decision to part ways publicly highlights the complexities of navigating personal relationships in the public eye, especially when one partner faces legal consequences and public backlash.
