Electric mobility startup Also, a spin-off from the renowned Rivian, has unveiled a game-changer in the e-bike market. But here's the catch: their first e-bike, the TM-B, starts at a hefty $3,500!
This announcement comes after the initial reveal of the TM-B's shapeshifting design, which offers a unique riding experience. The e-bike will be available in three variants: a limited Launch edition, a high-performance version, and a base model. The Launch and Performance models will set you back $4,500, but the base model is where the intrigue lies.
The base TM-B is significantly more affordable, but it's not without its trade-offs. Riders will have to contend with a reduced max range of 60 miles, a 5x power assist, coil fork suspension, and a single standard ride mode. In contrast, the pricier models boast a 100-mile range, 10x power assist, air fork suspension, and the option of sport or standard ride modes. And here's the kicker: the base model's sleek, all-gray design doesn't include the transparent shell that showcases the innovative DreamRide virtual drivetrain.
Despite the premium price tag, the TM-B's starting cost is lower than initially expected. Preorders are now open with a $50 refundable deposit, and shipping is anticipated to begin in late 2026.
But is the TM-B worth the price? Some might argue that the base model's compromises are too significant, especially when compared to other e-bikes on the market. Yet, the TM-B's shapeshifting capabilities and the promise of a unique riding experience could be a game-changer for urban commuters. What do you think?
