We are heartbroken to share the news of the passing of Edna Patricia Hensbee, a beloved member of our community. Pat, as she was affectionately known, left us on January 14, 2026, at the High-Crest Sherbrooke Home for Special Care, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Antigonish and raised in the picturesque Cross Road Country Harbour, Pat was the daughter of the late William and Verda Wilson. Her life was a testament to the power of family and the joy found in simple pleasures.
Pat was an exceptional wife and a doting mother. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Her selflessness and unwavering dedication to her family were truly remarkable.
One of Pat's favorite pastimes was spending quality time at Pringle Lake with her beloved husband, Delbert. Their shared love for nature and each other created lasting memories. Pat's passion for literature, particularly Anne of Green Gables, led her to amass an impressive collection of Lucy Maud Montgomery's works. She also enjoyed the challenge and satisfaction of jigsaw puzzles, lexicon puzzles, and word search books.
A true domestic goddess, Pat's baking skills were legendary, with her cinnamon rolls being a particular favorite among family and friends. Her sweet tooth was well-known, and she never passed up an opportunity to indulge in a delicious treat.
Pat is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, Delbert, and their children: Bradley Hensbee of Antigonish, Debbie Nichols of Middle Sackville, and Heidi Fraser (Daniel) of Arisaig. Her grandchildren, Amy and Ryan Nichols, Devin Hensbee, Cameron and Lilly Fraser, and great-grandchildren, Logan, William, and Norah Patriquin, will forever cherish the memories they shared with her. She is also survived by her sister, Grace Archibald of Bedford.
Pat was predeceased by her siblings: Arthur Wilson, Dorothy Jones, Joyce Malloy, and Ida Mason.
The funeral service will be held on Sunday at the Goshen Gospel Church at 2:00 pm, with Pastor John Luten officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Pat's memory.
