PiratesFest Adjustments: Bucs Respond to Winter Weather Challenges
The Pittsburgh Pirates have announced significant changes to PiratesFest, scheduled for Saturday at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. These updates are a direct response to the severe winter weather affecting the United States, making travel particularly challenging.
Due to the anticipated travel disruptions, several players have unfortunately had to withdraw from their scheduled appearances. Additionally, to ensure the safety of all attendees, players, and staff, PiratesFest will conclude one hour earlier than originally planned, at 5 p.m., instead of 6 p.m. This decision was made after careful consultation with local weather services, prioritizing the well-being of everyone involved.
Here's what fans need to know:
- Autograph Sessions: All sessions will still take place, featuring current Pirates players and alumni. However, some sessions will have different participants than originally scheduled. Updates on new session participants will be provided as information becomes available.
- Refund Policy: All donations for the 2026 autograph sessions will be fully refunded. Accounts will be automatically processed for refunds in the coming days. Fans who donated for an autograph session are advised to keep their tickets for their scheduled session time, as tickets will not be canceled, but donations will be refunded.
The Pirates emphasize the importance of safety, especially with potential weather impacts on travel to western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio, and West Virginia, as well as beyond the region. These decisions were made with an abundance of caution, understanding the disappointment this may cause for fans.
The Pirates encourage all fans to monitor weather updates and travel safely. Despite the changes, the Pirates look forward to hosting those who can still attend, celebrating Pirates baseball and creating memorable experiences.
