Jaquerin Kabanyana, 23, arrived in Uganda as a refugee in 2018. For years, he and his family faced ongoing hardship. Then, in 2022, Kabanyana borrowed $74 from a grant program and started breeding and selling goats. In just two years, his weekly earnings more than doubled to around $13, and he is now building a larger, sturdier home for his relatives.
