Darren Clark, owner of Hull-based café Drypool Feast, stepped up in a big way. Not only did he agree to supply the meals at cost price, but he also offered to cook and deliver them, ensuring the seniors wouldn't miss out on their cherished Christmas tradition.
Clark's generosity didn't stop there. He even pledged to accept donations from customers to further reduce the cost for the charity. 'It's the season of giving,' he said, 'and to think they were missing out... we had to help them out.' His wholesaler joined the effort, donating turkeys to sweeten the deal.
Natalie Spikings from Age UK Hull and East Yorkshire expressed overwhelming gratitude: 'It's really great to know we've got the support of this amazing organisation in the community... [our members] are going to have a really brilliant meal this Christmas.'
The events, scheduled for December 22nd in Cottingham and December 23rd in Hull, promise more than just a meal.
