Imagine finally having a simple, seamless way to carry your payment, loyalty, and travel documents all on your Android device—sounds like a game-changer, right? Well, the wait is over: Google Wallet has officially made its debut in the Philippines. This new feature allows users to store and access a variety of cards and passes, making everyday transactions more convenient than ever. But here’s where it gets interesting—initial support is limited to a select group of merchants and service providers, and the list is already sparking discussion about what’s included and what’s still to come.
Let’s break down who’s on board right now. You can add your credit and debit cards from major banks like ChinaBank, East West Bank, RCBC Bank, and Zed, which support both Visa and Mastercard. Specifically, Visa cards are accepted from GoTyme, Maya, UnionBank, and Wise, while GCash is currently the only merchant supporting Mastercard payments through their platform.
Travelers and event-goers will appreciate the integration with boarding passes and flight bookings. Airlines such as Philippines Airlines, AirAsia, Cathay Pacific, Jetstar, Malaysia Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Scoot, and Thai Airways now support storing boarding passes directly in Google Wallet. For booking flights, Trip.com is available for ticket purchases, and event tickets can be secured via Ticket2me and Ticketnet.
Loyalty programs are also part of the initial rollout. Ikea’s loyalty card can be added to your wallet, while Mang Inasal offers digital vouchers that can be stored for quick redemption.
Transportation payments are another highlight. You can now tap and pay at MRT-3 stations in Manila, as well as at modern jeepneys in Cebu and Mandaue City. Bus tickets can be purchased through Easybook, and support for tickets bought via Beep App is coming soon—making daily commutes even smoother.
Digital payments are expanding too. Shopee has integrated Google Pay for checkout, along with payment providers like PesoPay and Payermax. Additional merchants such as Sephora, 2c2p, Paymongo, and Maya are expected to support Google Wallet shortly, broadening your options for online shopping.
And if you’re a car owner, check this out: digital car keys compatible with supported models are now accessible, making keyless entry and start functions more convenient than ever. You can find the complete list of supported vehicles on Android’s official page.
Keep in mind, this list is just the beginning. We know that major banks like BPI have already confirmed they’ll be integrating Google Wallet soon, hinting at even wider acceptance in the near future.
